UB40 is een reggae- en popgroep uit Birmingham, Groot-Brittannixeb. UB40 is opgericht in 1978. In de ruim 25 jaar van hun bestaan, heeft de band verschillende grote hits gehad, waaronder meerdere nummer 1 hits. In Nederland waren dat: Red Red Wine (1983), I Got You Babe (1985), Sing Our Own Song (1986), Kingston Town (1990) en I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You (1993). Opvallend is dat het op Sing Our Own Song na allemaal gecoverde versies zijn.

De naam UB40 is ontleend aan een voormalig formulier van de Engelse sociale dienst om een werkloosheidsuitkering aan te vragen. De band heeft een sterk multicultureel karakter, zowel in de samenstelling als in de muziek. De bandleden zijn:

De band kocht z’n eerste instrumenten van een schadevergoeding die Ali Campbell kreeg na een vechtpartij in een cafxe9. Veel nummers van UB40 gaan over sociale problemen, zoals racisme en werkloosheid.
